We have placed a giving tree in the lobby to help support the community and our families from CCS this holiday season.
Look for tags with gift ideas for our students and families. You will also find tags to assist families affected by Hurricane Helene.
How it works: Take a tag from the tree (or call the front office if you can't make it in), get a gift, wrap it, and return it with the tag taped to it before our holiday break.
Our families and community will definitely appreciate it.
Thank you so much for all that you do!
Students in Mrs. Allen’s class made thanksgiving friendship bracelets. They used the colors of all things Thanksgiving to make bracelets. They then swapped bracelets with a friend to learn the gift of sharing. They also created their Peach Parrot Christmas ornaments to hang on the CELA Christmas tree!
At Calhoun City Schools we believe a partnership between school and home is essential for the development of foundational literacy skills. PreK students were in for a big treat this week when Pilgrim “Mary Morton” dropped by to share with the boys and girls about the hard life pilgrims endured. Students saw many of the clothing items worn in that time period, and they learned about the very first Thanksgiving. Mrs. Mary Douglas comes each week to do story time, and the boys and girls loved the added flavor and costumes to teach about pilgrim life.
Below, heavy rain for a couple of days and a wet playground; no problem. The Black Bats had a lot of fun on Wednesday with sidewalk chalk. Ms. Kayleigh, our high school helper, drew an old school hopscotch board. The kids loved it and asked if we can do it again sometime !
Pictured are the Black Bats hopscotching their way through some outdoor time.
Centers time is one of the favorite parts of the day in PreK for many students. We have several young contractors and builders emerging it seems. Pictured are Greyson Bishop and Matthew Pulliam dressed up in construction worker gear and supervising construction in the block center.
One of the best special events of the year took place this past Thursday. The awesome cafeteria staff prepared the traditional Thanksgiving feast of turkey and dressing with all of the delicious side items. Students and staff alike loved it, and we appreciate our food services department making this happen each year.
The Spotted Cows had a great time celebrating Thanksgiving with their parents! They made an ice cream cone cornucopia, read a Thanksgiving book, and painted a turkey!
The Koalas are preparing for the Christmas Season! We created snowflake ornaments using craft sticks and glitter!! Oh what fun they had creating their masterpieces!
