We have placed a giving tree in the lobby to help support the community and our families from CCS this holiday season.
Look for tags with gift ideas for our students and families. You will also find tags to assist families affected by Hurricane Helene.
How it works: Take a tag from the tree, get a gift, wrap it, and return it with the tag taped to it. Our families and community will definitely appreciate it.
Thank you so much for all that you do!
We got a new member of the Sand Gecko family. A leopard gecko needed a new how and found it inside our classroom. We took a vote and picked a name. His name is Spot. The students wrote thank you notes to the person who donated our new class pet. They are so excited to get to know and love Spot.
At Calhoun City Schools we believe a partnership between school and home is essential for the development of foundational literacy skills. For information about literacy in Georgia, visit the Georgia Department of Education’s Literacy page at www.gadoe.org. Also, you can click the following link to learn how you can help support your child’s development of foundational reading skills. Our counselor and guidance teachers are working with students to show fair ways to play.
Brown Bears have had a fun week learning all about Fall and Thanksgiving! We have been using fall paint colors during center time to create beautiful artwork to decorate our classroom.
We also have added all kinds of fall items to our sensory table, which were collected at home by our students. They have used these items to create their own “leaf people” and even conducted some science experiments!
Retired PreK teacher, Mrs. Mary Douglas, visited us this week to share with us all about Native Americans and show us her real-life artifacts that she owns. She told us information about how the Native Americans participated in the first Thanksgiving as well.
PreK students also traveled to the Harris Arts Center this week to watch Preschool Pops, presented by Engineered Floors. This month’s guest was Magician Ken Scott, who was both hilarious and highly entertaining to our students. They were laughing out loud the entire show! We are grateful for such fun learning opportunities right here in our community.
