Calhoun City Schools is excited to introduce the inaugural CCS Community Leadership Academy for Students’ Success, starting this fall. This unique program offers community members a behind-the-scenes look at how our schools operate, including governance, policy, student support, and budgeting. Participants will engage directly with school leaders, tour facilities, and provide valuable feedback. If you're passionate about our schools and want to play an active role in shaping the future, this is your chance! Click here to complete the interest survey by September 13, 2024.
Kindergarten students have been busy learning all about numbers 0-5. This week they have been learning how to add and subtract numbers to 5. Students in Mrs. Tate's Lavender Llama class have fun playing a "Candy in a Bag" game to build addition and subtraction fluency to 5
The Silver Sloths enjoyed playing different percussion instruments during music classes!
At Calhoun City Schools we believe a partnership between school and home is essential for the development of foundational literacy skills. For information about literacy in Georgia, visit the Georgia Department of Education’s Literacy page at www.gadoe.org. The Aqua Owls have had a fun week learning about US Symbols ! We started our week doing a directed drawing and reading a book about the Statue of Liberty . On Tuesday we discussed the American Flag and what the Stars and Stripes mean . The students then had the opportunity to create their own flag and paint their own stars on it .
In the picture above, Annsley Totherow, Samrat Thapa, Julian Cruz, and Briggs Worley use Q-tips and white paint to create stars on their flag. Later in the week we talked about the Bald Eagle and the students observed a live video of the Berry College Eagle.
We were so proud of our US Symbol creations that we displayed them on our bulletins board so everyone could see. Its always fun to be an Aqua Owl !
The Koalas are definitely enjoying our outdoor recess! We are taking full advantage of the sunshine! While exploring our playground we are rock climbing, swinging on the swings as well as enjoying the slide! Fun in the sun!

Calhoun City Schools is pleased to introduce a communications tool called Anonymous Alerts®.
This system will be monitored between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm during the school year. Any reports submitted outside of these hours or during holidays will be responded to during the following normally scheduled school day. In the event of an emergency, please contact 911. For all other crisis, a listing of contacts is provided at the link here.
What is the Anonymous Alerts app?
The Anonymous Alerts anti-bullying and safety app reporting system helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressure are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome.
The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between submitters (students, parents or community members) and district administration and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or reveal their identity when submitting a report.
How does it work?
To use this revolutionary new app, students, parents or other school personnel can simply visit the
Calhoun City Schools website and click on the “Anonymous Alerts” button or text link to submit a report expressing their concern. Anonymous Alerts® mobile applications can be downloaded directly from the Apple, Google Play or the Chrome stores.
Calhoun City Schools supplies students an activation code, making the app remarkably easy to use and students select which school the message should go to. In addition, informational posters explaining how to use the app will be displayed throughout schools and offices in the district.
