We're reaching the end of the month! Don't forget to log minutes and keep track of all the reading you are doing each day at school and at home! Each student should be logging 600 minutes each month. Our schoolwide goal is 1 million minutes by the end of April for Dr. Garrett to go skydiving!

Calhoun Elementary FCA

The first FCA meeting of the year is scheduled for this Friday, September 29th. Students must have a permission form on file to attend. Students who have submitted a signed permission form will receive a membership card they will need to present to be able to attend the monthly meetings. For questions regarding FCA, please contact Jana Johns (teacher sponsor) by emailing johnsj@calhounschools.org.

CES Lunch Visitors

CES welcomes parents or other designated family members who wish to eat lunch with a student on their assigned grade level day (see schedule below). Students other than the lunch visitor’s designee will not be permitted to join a lunch party due to safety reasons. Please note that all visitors must be listed as a contact on the students’ information (IC) profile to be allowed as a visitor. Enjoy your lunch!

6th Grade - Tuesdays @ 11:10 am (Squries, Hathcox, Murphree, Starkey, Farriba) @ 11:25 am (Howard, Brookins, Swann, Kerns, Daughtrey, Land)

5th Grade - Wednesdays @ 12:40 pm

4th Grade - Thursdays @ 12:00 pm

When visiting campus, we kindly ask that guests adhere to the appropriate dress code guidelines as established for staff and students.

Attention 6th Graders!

CMS Basketball Tryouts

CMS basketball tryouts will be held the week of October 16th. All participants must have a current physical on file to attend. 

6th Grade Girls: Tuesday, October 17th from 3:45-5:30 pm at the CMS gym. Call-back tryouts will be on Wednesday, October 18th from 3:45-5:30 pm for all CMS participants selected.

6th Grade Boys: Monday, October 16th and Tuesday, October 17th from 5:30-6:30 pm at the CMS gym.

Students must have their own transportation to and from tryouts. An athletic shuttle from CES to CMS will be available to students who make the team once the season officially begins.

School Cafeteria Payments

Students can pay for breakfast/lunch and any charges at one of the registers or you can visit schoolcafe.com to make an online payment. This is also a great way to check balances and make payments throughout the year. Specific questions can be directed to School Nutrition Director, Kim Kiker at kikerk@calhounschools.org.

Student Meal Prices: Breakfast: $1.75 Lunch: $2.70

Students also have the option to purchase additional snack items and ice cream during lunch for additional costs. Please note that money for these items can also be added to the student's lunch account. Parents have the option to monitor and manage the settings on their child's lunch account through schoolcafe.com.

CCS Anonymous Alerts

CCS continues to utilize the Anonymous Alert program to report concerns during the school year. Students and community members can submit alerts to school administrators through the AA app/website.

To send reports from the Web/Internet click here

To send a report from your phone:

  • Download the Anonymous Alerts® app for free from the Apple Store, Google Play store, or the Chrome store

  • Start the App, enter activation code: calhouncs

  • Send important reports to school officials

  • Add a screenshot, photo or video about the incident

In an emergency, always call 9-1-1!

This system will be monitored between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm during the school year. Any reports submitted outside of these hours or during holidays will be responded to during the following normally scheduled school day. In the event of an emergency, please contact 911.
