Welcome back, CMS families! As we gear up for another fantastic school year, we want to make sure your transition back to campus is as smooth as possible.

Here is what you need to know for our Open House on Thursday, July 30th:

7th Grade Orientation (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM): We will kick off this year's orientation in your child's homeroom at 2:00 PM. Students and families will be given homeroom assignments and a CMS map in the hallway outside of the main office. Once in homeroom, the teachers will share an information slide deck and then families will be released to walk their schedule.

8th Grade Drop-In (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM): 8th grade students and  families will pick up their schedule outside of the CMS office and will be released to walk their schedule.

Dress Code:

Our dress code is designed to promote an environment that is both safe and conducive to learning.  To that end students and visitors should adhere to the following dress code standards:

Shoes must be worn at all times.

Blankets, stuffed animals, toys, etc. are not permitted.

Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be no shorter than mid-thigh length.

Pants, shorts, and skirts should not be worn in a “slacking” manner, and should be worn at the waist.

Shirts must cover the shoulders, chest, midriff, back, and undergarments. Shirts should not be see-through. *See through or sheer garments are only permitted if worn over the top of school-appropriate clothing.  

Caps, hats, head scarves, bonnets, hoods, combs/brushes, sunglasses, etc. may not be worn inside of school buildings unless a student has administrative permission or it is a designated dress up day. Approved religious attire is permitted.

Leggings, yoga pants, and similar athletic clothing should not be see-through and shirts worn with these types of pants should not expose the midriff area. One piece bodysuit/unitard clothing is not permitted.

Pajamas/pajama pants and bedroom slippers are not allowed unless it is a designated dress up day, this includes wearing pajama pants with a regular top/shirt.

Any tears/rips/frays that expose skin in pants/jeans should meet the shorts/skirt length criteria and not be above mid-thigh.

No clothing should promote drugs, gangs, weapons, or alcoholic beverages.

Clothing should not contain images that are profane, sexual in nature, gang related, or are racially offensive.      

Visible body piercings are limited to the ears and a single stud nose piercing (no facial hoops/facial bars allowed for safety reasons)

Anything that has the potential to cause distractions or disruptions to the learning environment is not allowed, including clothing that promotes a political party and/or candidate, political or social philosophy, and/or cause or crusade as shared in Board Policy KJ.

REQUIRED STUDENT VACCINE FORMS: All 7th and 11th-grade students must submit an updated 3231 vaccine form to the school nurse by September 04, 2026, as required by Georgia state law. Ensure your child's vaccines are current by scheduling an appointment with their doctor or the local health department at (706) 624-1444. Students will be unable to attend school after September 04 if they have not completed their vaccination form.

We are excited to inform you about an important update about our School Nutrition program. Students at Calhoun City Schools will have access to free meals through the Community Eligibility Program again this year.

The Community Eligibility Program ensures that every student receives a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost, removing any financial barriers to access. Families will no longer need to complete an application for school meal benefits, because all students will be eating for free. This program allows us to provide 1- Breakfast and 1-Lunch to students at no charge. Additional meals and a la carte items (extras), will still be available for purchase if a student has money in their account or has cash and/or check at the time of purchase. There will be a no charge policy in place, because all students will have access to meals. This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting health and well-being among our students by providing consistent access to wholesome meals.

CCS Transportation Information 2026-2027

• Parents need to ensure their home address inside of Infinite Campus is correct

• Parents can confirm their address by logging into parent portal

• Parents can contact CMS and speak to the registrar to provide a new proof of residency steelec@calhounschools.org

• Parents will be able to view their child's transportation information inside of Infinite Campus (Please allow us additional time to get this new feature rolled out)

• Parents can also get route information from TransApp. Please see documents below

Calhoun City Schools offers School Bus Transportation to any and all students that reside within the Calhoun City Limits. CCS does not offer transportation for out of district students. To ensure the safety of our students while we transport them to and from school, we will use the following protocols for students who wish to ride the bus. Each student must be registered to ride the school bus.  If you did not choose "bus" during online registration, please contact the registrar at steelec@calhounschools.org to update your preference.

• CCS will offer school bus transportation to the address listed in Infinite Campus to all students who have registered to ride the bus. The transportation department does not accept notes to ride the bus home with a friend.  

• Falsification of any documents will result in loss of all transportation privileges for the entire school year.

• CCS schools will not pick up or deliver students to a place of a business.  

• All requests to change bus transportation must be made to the school in writing or by email. Any note or email must be received by 10:00 am to be considered.
